Twikini

Version History

Note: if you have already purchased a license, simply download it and reinstall again. You won't need to reenter your serial number.

Version 2.1 (Dec 7, 2009)

  • Improved: Now you can select between classic style retweeting ("RT@...") or the new "official" style retweeting. Look under Options > Retweet Style.

  • Improved: Now you can disable the automatic wrapping behavior at the top and bottom of the timeline. This is useful for some devices that have scroll wheels such as the Samsung BlackJack 2. Look under Options > Timeline Display.

  • Bug Fix: If you didn't have a GPS signal in some cases Twikini would geotag your tweets with latitude/longitude = 0.00. Now it will wait until a satellite signal is acquired.

  • Other minor bug fixes and optimizations.

Version 2.0 (Nov 26, 2009)

  • New: Ability to geotag your tweets. Important: Please read about Twitter's new geotagging feature, which is disabled by default.

  • New: Support for the official Retweet feature that Twitter recently introduced. Important: please read about how retweeting on Twitter works now (this has changed from how it used to work in the past).

  • New: You can now see a full list of followers and friends for any user (including yourself). When viewing a user's profile, click Menu > Followers/Following.

Version 1.6 (Oct 22, 2009)

  • Bug fix: Fixes connectivity issue many T-Mobile users were experiencing when downloading timelines.

  • Bug fix: After a re-tweet, the highlighted tweet would be lost, and the newest tweet would be highlighted. Fixed this.

  • Improved: Tapping on a user's picture in the profile or tweet window will show a large picture of the user.

  • Improved: The profile window will show the date on which a user joined Twitter (this can be useful when deciding whether to follow someone).

  • Improved: Added "My Profile" (under the Tools menu) to quickly check your own profile.

  • Improved: URL shortening will use http://j.mp instead of Bit.ly, which will give you 2 extra characters. (Note: j.mp is part of Bit.ly).

Version 1.55 (Sep 17, 2009)

This is a minor update to try and solve the connectivity issues that lots of people have been having lately. If you've been seeing an error when starting Twikini, this may fix it. Please try this update and let us know (@Twikini on Twitter) if it reduces or eliminates the errors.

Unfortunately there are no other new features or improvements in this update - we're working on new stuff, but addressing the connectivity issues is a higher priority.

Version 1.5 (Sep 4, 2009)

  • Bug fix: scrolling on touch devices, including those with Windows Mobile 6.5 would mess up the images in the timeline. This was pretty annoying.

  • Bug fix: When viewing a user's tweets, clicking a tweet would not open it - instead it would take you back to the user's profile.

  • Improved: Added a properly sized .PNG image for Windows Mobile 6.5's new Start screen.

  • Improved: Various quality fixes and tweaks to comply with Windows Marketplace for Mobile, which is launching next month.

  • Improved: When sending a tweet by email, you are allowed to select which account is used. Previously it always used your Outlook account. To try it, click Menu > Share when reading a tweet.

  • Removed support for TinyUrl and Digg URL shorteners. Bit.ly seems to be the standard everyone is adopting, so there's no need for others.

Version 1.4 (Aug 23, 2009)

  • This version is fully localized in German, Italian, Dutch and Danish for our European friends. Additional languages are also coming soon (if you can assist with translation, please email CJ).

Huge thanks to the helpful folks who helped translate Twikini:

    • German: Bjoern Buerstinghaus
    • Italian: Dom and Domenico
    • Dutch: Jeremy Tjon from WinMo.nl
    • Danish: Tommy Pedersen

Version 1.3 (Aug 17, 2009)

  • New: "I'm Here" feature that inserts a Google Maps URL of your current GPS location inside a tweet. You'll find this under the tweet window's Menu. With this feature, you can share your exact location on a map. See a sample tweet.

  • Improved: Clicking on a Twitpic link will open it in the Web browser. Clicking on a Twitpic thumbnail will open it inside Twikini. This improves upon the previous version in which Twitpics always opened inside Twikini.

  • Improved: You can now cancel GPS initialization if it is taking too long. Click Menu > Cancel inside the Tweet window to cancel a GPS action.

  • Bug fix: Twikini would crash when opening some tweets containing the < or > characters.

  • Bug fix: When clicking an @ link with a single quote (e.g. "twikini's"), the quote would become part of the link.

Version 1.2 (Aug 11, 2009)

  • New: When you click on a Twitpic link, the large photo is conveniently shown inside Twikini. You no longer have to launch a web browser to view the picture.

  • New: Option to launch all URLs in Skweezer (this optimizes websites for small screens). The option is OFF by default. Enable it under Tools > Options > Data/Download.

  • New: Specify which view you want the app to launch in every time (@Replies, DMs, Favorites, Public timeline etc). That way you can quickly get to the Twitter feature you care about most. Find this setting under Tools > Options > Data/Download.

  • New: Set auto refresh to only check DMs and @Replies. This reduces bandwidth usage and battery life, and avoids disturbing you with tweets you may not care about. Find this setting under Tools > Options > Auto Refresh.

  • New: Our first localized version - translated to Danish, thanks Tommy Pedersen. (Coming soon: French, German and Italian).

  • Improved: The timeline listview "wraps" at the top and bottom so you can quickly jump to the top or bottom of the list.

  • Improved: After @replying to a tweet, your currently highlighted item in the list will be kept highlighted (previously it would jump to the newest tweet).

  • Improved: Rewrote some GPS code so it should now work on all devices (or most!). Lots of people had trouble with GPS in previous versions. Please let us know if it works OK now.

  • Bug fix: some passwords were not being saved correctly.

  • Bug fix: when you post a tweet with a "+" character, the "+" would be lost.

  • Bug fix: messages containing '<' or '>' would get chopped off.

  • Other minor improvements and code cleanup.

Version 1.1 (May 22, 2009)

  • Bug fix: Twikini kept popping up to the top everytime it refreshed (this was causing some devices to lock up).
  • Bug fix: @replies were not being highlighted in the Friends timeline.
  • Bug fix: RT's were being treated as replies (now they will be treated as brand new posts).
  • Improved: Your current position in the timeline will be remembered. So after refreshing, the same item is still highlighted.
  • Improved: The Exit menu item is back! (sorry for removing it)

Version 1.0 (May 20, 2009)

  • New: Added Public timeline. Now you can read tweets from total strangers!
  • New: Fast account switching - now you can quickly switch between multiple Twitter accounts without reentering the password.
  • New: 2 new themes - Lounge and Cool Water.
  • Improved: Start up time will be faster because we eliminated one unnecessary Twitter API request for authentication.
  • Improved: Finally fixed the auto refresh issues. Auto refresh should work whether your device is turned on or in standby.
  • Improved: Added a 2-minute option for auto refresh.
  • Improved: The title bar of the tweet dialog will show you which account you're tweeting from (to prevent accidently tweeting from the wrong account).
  • Improved: You can now manually delete the image cache from Options.
  • Bug fix: Fixed problems with tweets in languages like Thai, Russian, Chinese, Japanese etc. You can tweet in whichever language your device uses (not just English).
  • Bug fix: Fixed problems with encoding special characters like ? and % in tweets and DMs.
  • Bug fix: "&gt" and "&lt" were showing up in the timeline instead of > and <.
  • Bug fix: If you were in the Sent Items view, it would not refresh after you sent a DM.
  • Lots of performance tweaks and miscellaneous improvements.
